Bruce Oldfield OBE
Born into care, Bruce Oldfield spent the first years of his life in a Barnardo’s home. Then fostered by a seamstress, he grew up encouraged to pursue his keen interest in design.

Bruce left Central St. Martin’s in 1973 to critical acclaim and has since created couture gowns for some of the world’s most iconic women. Charlotte Rampling, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Dame Darcey Bussell, HM Queen Noor of Jordan, HM Queen Rania of Jordan and the late Diana, Princess of Wales are amongst Bruce’s list of clients, past and present.

In 1990 Bruce was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the fashion industry by Her Majesty The Queen. In 2004, he published his autobiography, Rootless.

Today, unique and exquisite couture, bridal and custom-made designs are made by hand in the atelier at the Bruce Oldfield Showroom in London’s Knightsbridge. A range of hand made leather accessories made in Venice and cashmere stoles and throws from the Scottish Borders are the most recent addition to the covetable items available there.

Bruce still works closely with Barnardo’s and has been a Vice President of the charity since 1998.
